Neighborhood Reminders

Keep pets on a leash if they are not confined by a fence. Not only is it a city regulation to protect the health and safety of the public and your pet, but it is also being a good neighbor.

On-street parking is restricted by city ordinance and violators will be ticketed. The regulations are:

  • No vehicle may be parked on the front lawn of any residence or apartment within the parish

  • No vehicle may be parked on the front lawn or side yard on any corner lot within the parish.

  • A vehicle may be parked on a residential street for a period which does not exceed 9 continuous hours within a 24 hour period.

  • No vehicle with 2 or more rear axles are permitted to park within a residential neighborhood.

  • No vehicle may be parked on the street facing oncoming traffic.

Keep up with yard maintenance. Beyond the scheduled yard mowing, the following are ways to help maintain our neighborhood property values as well as a clean, beautiful neighborhood:

  • Edge along sidewalks, driveways and curbs

  • Cut back bushes or small trees that extend into the sidewalk space.

  • Cut back bushes against the house that cover more than half the height of the house.

  • Blow yard clippings back into yard and not the street. This helps to not clog city drainage systems.

Be mindful of your speed through the neighborhood. Between walkers, cyclists and children at play, please stay attentive and drive responsibly through Tara streets.
