Posting on Nextdoor App

Updated: Aug 8

Nextdoor is a powerful tool for staying informed, sharing updates, and connecting with both Tara neighbors and the larger Baton Rouge community. Whether you're reporting suspicious activity, alerting about scams, looking for a lost pet, or requesting recommendations, choosing the right audience ensures your post reaches the people who can help most. Not every post needs to reach the whole city. Limiting the audience can help protect privacy, keep posts relevant, and prevent unwanted comments. On the other hand, some posts are more helpful when shared more broadly. Knowing when to post locally or citywide makes Nextdoor more effective for everyone. Below are some quick audience scenarios when creating posts on Nextdoor.

Useful Citywide Features

Nextdoor offers more than just posts. Some of the app’s best features are designed for citywide interaction, like:

  • Halloween Treat Map – Mark your house if you’re handing out candy and see which streets are active on Halloween. It’s a fun, safe way to plan trick-or-treating with kids.

  • Recommendations – Find trusted local services and read reviews from real neighbors.

  • Events – Discover what's happening nearby, from festivals to yard sales.

  • Public Agency Updates – Get direct posts from police, city officials, and other agencies relevant to your area.

  • For Sale & Free – Buy, sell, or give away items like furniture, tools, and baby gear. A simple way to connect with neighbors and keep things local.
