Tara Halloween Street Closures

Following recent feedback from our community survey, Tara Civic is taking steps to close all side streets to car traffic, except for Thurman and Whitehall. Tara Blvd will remain open for through traffic. We’re also planning to set up designated parking areas on both sides of Tara to make it easier for everyone to access all sides of the neighborhood. We ask that Tara residents try to return home before 6 p.m. if possible. If you need to enter through the barricades on the side streets after that time, simply show an ID with a Tara address. Rest assured, emergency vehicular access will be maintained throughout the evening.

Tara has become a popular destination for Halloween, which has brought an increase in car traffic to our neighborhood. While we warmly welcome trick-or-treaters from both near and far, our goal is to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Our next steps include securing a city permit and arranging for police presence at each barricade which is required by the permit. Once we have a permit, we’ll coordinate with the high school, churches, and businesses to designate parking areas as well as advertise the plans to the public.
